PJSC Zaporizhzhia Abrasive Plant is expanding its production capabilities and launching the manufacture of specialized vitrified-bond grinding wheels for sharpening drill bits, crowns, and cutters fitted with carbide components.
The new production line is designed to meet the needs of mining companies and other industries that use drilling tools with carbide tips and inserts.
The grinding wheels are manufactured using green silicon carbide (64C) and black silicon carbide (54C). The combination of the abrasive material, a specially formulated vitrified bond, and an appropriate wheel structure ensures effective abrasive grain self-sharpening, profile retention, and a stable grinding process under intensive cooling conditions.
Depending on the operation, black silicon carbide (54C) is intended for rough grinding, while green silicon carbide (64C) is used for demanding sharpening applications.
Technical Specifications and Manufacturing Capabilities
The plant offers straight grinding wheels with an F46 grit size in the following dimensions:
For these applications, wheels can be manufactured in hardness grades H–J (М1–М3), with an open or highly porous structure. These characteristics promote abrasive grain self-sharpening and reduce the risk of thermal damage to carbide components.
The products are designed for regrinding tungsten carbide–cobalt tips and inserts of the ВК grade family (ВК8, ВК11, ВК15), used in roller-cone bits, chisel and cross drill bits, and drag bits.
In addition to standard sizes, the plant can manufacture wheels to customers’ drawings and technical specifications.
Technological Solutions Tailored to Customer Requirements
Zaporizhzhia Abrasive Plant is ready to manufacture trial batches of grinding wheels tailored to equipment specifications, carbide grades, and operating parameters.
The plant’s technical specialists provide support in selecting abrasive tools, including recommendations on cooling conditions and wheel dressing.
The introduction of specialized grinding wheels for sharpening drilling tools broadens the plant’s capabilities in industrial abrasive technologies and creates further opportunities for cooperation with mining companies.
Zaporizhzhia Abrasive Plant continues to develop its abrasive tool production, focusing on the technological needs of industry, grinding quality, and the efficiency of customers’ production processes.
